EcoScience Corporation prepared the Environmental Assessment (EA) for submission to the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR), the Division of Coastal Management, and associated agencies. EcoScience researched environmental issues relevant to the project, including land use, water resources, wetlands, wildlife and natural vegetation, shellfish, essential fish habitat, and Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) Areas of Environmental Concern. Detailed accounts of these resources were provided in the EA. Information was obtained from the Town of Morehead City regarding zoning, development, and infrastructure concerns. Development plans from project engineers and designers was also included in the document.
EcoScience assisted in formulating project alternatives and possible mitigation strategies. Indirect and Cumulative Effects of the project on future development, traffic, stormwater, infrastructure, and boating and recreational resources in the area were addressed. The document was formatted to comply with North Carolina’s State Environmental Policy Act standards.
EcoScience also provided coordination with resource agencies including the NCDENR’s Division of Coastal Management and Division of Marine Fisheries, the N.C. Ports Authority, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, and others. Agency comments were addressed. The document completed the clearinghouse review with no comments.
