RECREATIONAL PLANNING EXPERIENCE
ecoscience corp joins pbs&j - visit site

EcoScience Corporation and its professionals have been involved with a variety of recreational projects.  Our work has centered primarily on environmental planning and resource evaluation studies conducted during master planning phases.  Our permitting and resource agency coordination services allow clients to understand and comply with regulatory guidelines and laws.  We have worked in cooperation with engineers and landscape architects to provide integrated services, enabling work to proceed without delay.  Typical projects (corporate and personal experience) include:

Walnut Creek Recreational Complex and Amphitheater
Our professionals completed wetland delineations, protected species surveys, and permitting for successful approval of this Wake County recreational facility.  We successfully completed a permit update and wetland review of expansion areas in 1996.

Open Space Plan, Wake County
EcoScience recently participated as part of a planning team to evaluate open space options within Wake County.  Our professionals provided technical expertise on natural systems suitable for inclusion in the plan and for analysis of sites evaluated through use of a matrix analysis which identified priority sites based on ecological features.  EcoScience professionals participated in public meetings and provided input on the plan to assist the Wake County Open Space Advisory Committee.

Capital Area Soccer League Site Evaluations
EcoScience has conducted wetland determinations at a number of sites for soccer field development, including sites in Wake Forest, Wendell, and Knightdale on behalf of the Capital Area Soccer League.

4-H Educational Conference Center, Tyrrell County
Our professionals were responsible for all environmental studies associated with development of this camp-conference facility on 242-acres in Tyrrell County.  Our work included:  wetland delineations, with survey and agency approval; ecological field studies; prepared an Environmental Assessment report which was reviewed and successfully approved under State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) guidelines; and successful submission and receipt of permits from the Office of Coastal Management, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the N.C. Division of Water Quality.

Conservation Plan, North Carolina Global TransPark (NCGTP)
EcoScience professionals developed an innovative conservation strategy for the proposed NCGTP in Kinston.  The plan involved more than 1520 acres of isolated wetland tracts and stream channels that were linked through a system of wildlife corridors. Restoration activities were proposed for degraded lands, and educational opportunities were proposed.  This strategy was eventually incorporated into the NCGTP wetland mitigation plan for the development.

Buck Springs 4-H Conference Facility, Warren County
EcoScience professionals provided planning assistance for this 75-acre conference and recreational facility, including production of a State Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI).  And a large part of the planning process was cultural resource coordination.

N.C. State Centennial Campus Conference Center/Hotel and Golf Course, Wake County
EcoScience professionals provided planning assistance for this 985-acre conference, hotel, research, and recreational facility, including production of a State EA/FONSI.  Identification and avoidance/minimization of Section 404 jurisdictional areas, storm water, and Neuse River riparian area buffer rule consideration were a large part of the planning process.
